The transit museum
There is a transit museum in an unused stop (Sorry, I forget where it is but it is in Brooklyn, when I remember I'll post it), and there is some old unused train cars there. Recently, someone told me that sometimes they go out of the station and they saw one. I think that is pretty cool. And remember, if I ever remember where the transit museum is, I will post it.

Click here for the second av. saga. It is very interesting, and has many facts about the second av. subway that has been in progress for 82 years and counting. It also has some recent news.

Corrugated steel cars.
On the A and C line, there are some old corrugated steel cars that still run. Their windows can be opened, and the engines can't pull as many cars as the modern ones, so they are shorter.
Windows
Some subway cars still have windows that can be opened. They are usually found on the A and C line corrugated steel cars, but can also be on other cars. Just yesterday I saw one on an old D line car.

NYC map
Kickmap is very useful subway guide, and very easy to use. It has a separate line for each line, (no cluster lines) and tells you when each train stops there. Search NYC Kickmap on Google. It also has an iphone/ipod app.
Subway All Day
For my plan to go on every subway train in one day, this will be on Tuesday, so expect tons of posts.
Abandoned station on the 6
While going on the downtown 6 to go to City Hall station (see my previous blog) I found that between Canal St. and Brooklyn Bridge / City Hall (the one in use) there is an abandoned station on the right side. It is very dark, so look carefully.
City hall station
I recently found out that if you go past the last stop on the downtown 6, and look on the right side, you can see the old City Hall station.
Sunday's MTA thought
I think the Franklin Av. Shuttle should expand south to the F and G line, then onward all the way to the R. Brooklyn needs more east-west trains to connect the four lines.
My Plan
This is my plan:
Take Queens-bound F**** to Jay St. Metro Tech.
Take Manhattan-bound C to Fulton St.
Take the Queens-bound J to Essex St.
Take Queens-bound M to Marcy Av.
Take Queens-bound Z* to Eastern Parkway.
Take Far Rockaway-bound A to Broad Channel.
Take S to Beach 90 St.
Take Manhattan-bound A** to Nostrand Av. If rush hour.
Take Manhattan-bound C to Franklin Av.
Take S to Prospect Pk.
Take Queens-bound Q to 7 Av.
Take Bronx-bound B to Columbus Circle.
Take Bronx-bound D to Yankee Stadium if not rush hour, 145 St. If rush hour***.
Take Brooklyn-bound 4 to 149 St. / Grand Concourse.
Take Brooklyn-bound 2 to 96 St.
Take Brooklyn-bound 3 to 72 St.
Take Manhattan-bound 1 to Times Sq.
Take S to Grand Central.

Take Queens-bound E to Queens Plaza.
Take Brooklyn-bound R to Lexington Av.
Take Manhattan-bound 6 to Grand Central.
Take Brooklyn-bound 5 to Union Sq. / 14 St.
Take Queens-bound L to Lorimer St.
Take Brooklyn-bound G to 4 Av. 9 St.
Take Brooklyn-bound R to 36 St.
Take Brooklyn-bound N to Coney Island.
Take Queens-bound F to Ft. Hamilton Parkway.
